Why

Why

We realized that the average person has no idea what they are doing online, They simply follow those they find there and so a culture is created where theories and myths,  abound as “expert” rules! So what really works.

The Vision

We sort to stimulate a movement! Change does not just happen… so how do we get creatives to adapt adopt and integrate new technology! More importantly  a system where the designer actually make money online

The Mission

  • Celebrate African Heritage
  • Create a Global Portal to not just See but  be able to Source, Shop, Sell, Sample, Stimulate, Support,  Show our focus for February is designers of African Heritage But this applies across cultures!
  • Identify and Address issues in a professional setting
  • “Bridge the Digital Divide”
  • Identify Explore and showcase the use of new and emerging technologies That we believe would shape how  “mom & Pops’ actually “DO BUSINESS”
  • To provide a platformfor Global access!

28 designers- Create a platform that makes marketing affordable and more efficient! Give access and guidance in adapting new media tolls and technology tools from the people who created them!

Future Designers- Share knowledge, expertise, experience and guidance, We found that many designers even those using technology were not aware, and not exploring, the options for use and adaptation!

Tech developers- Reach and market to the african consumer! To explore, the potential and cultural adjustments needed to take their products outside of the “early adapter and tech user” demographic.

Weeding through the clutter to find what works best can be intimidating at least, time consuming at best!

Pulling them together effectively so that it works the “WAY” you need it to… is priceless! These projects help us do just that!

How do you adapt adopt and integrate technology  into your culture, your creative lifestyle, your community and use it to collaborate and Maximize commerce!

Designers need this resource and buyers and consumers need to find them!  Technology can greatly make the products accessible!T his is an opportunity to showcase (and test) new technology  and how and where it can be adapted and adopted! Many speak about” Bridging the digital divide”, we do so within a sector that transcends most inhibitions!

Fashion has the ability to draw audiences and grab attention and unify.  When we sent out a call for FashionCamp last year we brought women  outside of tech into technology! This year we are targeting those of African Heritage!

I am frequently stopped and asked as an aol blooger so aptly put it,  “Where Are All the Real Black Fashion Designers?”… AOL Voices

Here the results pulled  from the first page of a Google search…

These in no way reflect the present state of the Local NY industry,  nor the designers I know and love! Hidden behind Flash sites, and private profiles on Social media channels, finding them is a challenge! But even those choices are made simply  because of Lack of knowledge preconceived notions and simply bad advice!

We also need answers that someone out there may have! It is time to  put the issues as challenging and sensitive as they are on the table .

Feb 1st -28th We’ll have  our fist group!  Check back for details
